I recently randomly watched (again) the Rolling Stones' documentary Gimme Shelter, and I'll tell you what - Mick Jagger's glorious hair, undulating in slow motion under pink stage lights, should seriously get its own separate billing in the credits. That hair --- was simply mesmerizing and seemed to be its own independent, sentient being. As grim and depressing as this film is in some parts, there are at least 2 redeeming moments, besides the incredible music: A baby is born at the festival, and the swirling magenta slow mo fantasy dancing of Mick Jagger.
I could watch a full 2 hour movie of just Mr. Jagger and his magnificent hair, slowed down to Koyaanisqatsi speed. For reals.

Lez Zeppelin
My good friend (and my husband's former bandmate) Leesa is the drummer for this incredible band. They are as impressive as they are entertaining. Do not miss a chance to see them! They will make your blood molecules dance. Leesa is world class. Such a treat.

Sheena is a Punk Rocker
The first LP I ever bought with my own money was The Ramones' "Rocket to Russia", when I was in the 8th grade. No one told me to get it. I didn't know what it would sound like. I didn't know who the Ramones were. I didn't know what punk was. I just saw the record and impulsively bought it.
Needle dropped, mind blown. It changed me forever.

Cheek: Drop
I just happen to be married to a true gentleman and prince among men. But if that wasn't enough, he is a fabulous singer/songwriter and musician. Here is a link to a song performed by one of his earlier powerpop-rock Texas bands, Cheek. I'm real fond of their music.
Cheek features Jay Maulsby (voice/guitar), Brett Needham (voice/guitar), Steve Bundrick (drums), and Chris MacFarland (bass).

Purple Rain, Purrrrple rain
I was telling my husband that I thought it would be neat if rain came down in colors, based on severity. So, when you want to talk to someone about how hard it was raining, you could describe it as yellow rain or pink rain, and they would know exactly what you meant. Or you could look out the window and know immediately where it's letting up or getting worse, just based on the colors in the distance.
"...I only wanted 2 see U laughing in the purple rain..."

Helpfullest post of 2014
I was just about to move a set of my kid's unwanted swim goggles to the donation pile, when it occurred to me to try them out as an onion-cutting protection device of coolness, with an intense, sulfurey onion I was chopping up for some pasta sauce. It totally worked. Perfect seal around the eyeballs. You're welcome.
The more you know...
