Purple Rain, Purrrrple rain
I was telling my husband that I thought it would be neat if rain came down in colors, based on severity. So, when you want to talk to someone about how hard it was raining, you could describe it as yellow rain or pink rain, and they would know exactly what you meant. Or you could look out the window and know immediately where it's letting up or getting worse, just based on the colors in the distance.

Helpfullest post of 2014
I was just about to move a set of my kid's unwanted swim goggles to the donation pile, when it occurred to me to try them out as an onion-cutting protection device of coolness, with an intense, sulfurey onion I was chopping up for some pasta sauce. It totally worked. Perfect seal around the eyeballs. You're welcome.
The more you know...

"We're #1. All others are #2 or lower."
Congratulations to my dear friends Tamarie and Jason for being at the TOP of this latest list of arts coolness in H-Town! Catastrophic is indeed a local treasure.

Chicken and duck
Today on Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, Daniel and Catarina rescued a baby duck and then took it to a special farm to live out its days, because they were told that the duck needed a different kind of life out in the country. Then, Daniel and Catarina had to leave the Land of Make Believe because it was time for dinner, and Daniel's mom was baking chicken.
Daniel said, "Yum!"
I have an ethical problem with this scenario.

French Fry on the floorboard
One of my very dearest friends and soul sisters since high school, Julia, is on the road with her show Country Gravy and Other Obsessions. She and Patty stopped in Tucson while touring and were featured on the morning show. Ooh la la! Miss ya Jules...
Here's a clip from tv, which includes the song "French Fry on the Floorboard." I could listen to her sing forever.

Cheek, 2001. Thanks, Citizen Doug!
My fellow PVA alumni, Emmy award winner, and friend Doug Robertson recorded my husband's band Cheek at the KUHF studios in Houston, a while back. He said that they were the only band that ever got censored....hmmm, how about that.
Cheek was a brilliant band.
Here is Doug's awesome footage, along with my husband Jay, and my stunningly talented friends: Brett Needham, Steve Bundrick, and Chris McFarland. Click the link below or click on the photo.
